Women nominated for the Spike TV Scream Awards 2009
Submitted by Superheidi on 09/01/2009
The 2009 Spike TV Scream Awards will air on Spike Oct. 27th, 2009 at 10PM/9C, and you have a vote in who gets an award. Pretty/Scary is on the nomination committee, so while we tried to get the most deserving women on the voting ballot, not one female any category except as 'actress'. That's right, not even Catherine Hardwicke made it into Best Director for Twilight, but Michael Bay did for Transformers 2.
In any case, there are a few cool nominees that we're excited about...
Teen cult film 'Heathers' becoming a Fox TV show
Submitted by Superheidi on 08/29/2009
Well, fuck me gently with a chainsaw. The 1989 Christian Slater/Winona Ryder/Shannen Doherty masterpiece of teen black comedy, murder, cliques, and morbidity Heathers is becoming a Fox TV series.
TV writer Mark Rizzo and producer Jenny Bicks (Sex in the City, Men in Trees) are in charge of the adaptation, which worries me, because of Sex in the City and Men in Trees being awful shows in which women are vapid innocent idiots and men are idealized as saviors of the middle-aged single gal. Anyway, this is about teenagers. So thankfully Diablo Cody is not involved...

Submitted by Superheidi on 08/14/2009
Casting for season two of VH1’s Scream Queens is on. The show is looking for great actresses willing to embarass themselves, get nude, be made fun of, and compete for a role in a major theatrically-released Lionsgate horror film. Season 1 featured James Gunn (Slither, Tromeo and Juliet) as a host along with Shawnee Smith (Amanda from the Saw franchise). Undoubtedly, the first episode will be the best when we see nervous attention whores being humilated onscreen. Welcome to low budget horror, gals! Get used to it. Info below...
Lucy Lawless in 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' - A '300' for TV?
Submitted by Superheidi on 08/03/2009I’ve never been scolded by a famous TV actress before, let alone one with twinkling blue eyes, a devilish grin, and a reputation for on-screen butt kicking as Xena, Warrior Princess. When Lucy Lawless, one of the stars of the upcoming TV series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, teasingly gave me a hard time for not speaking up much during the press conference for her show at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con, it did make me ask more questions. I guess it’s that commanding personality that serves her well in her role as a powerful, manipulative Roman wife on the show...
Jane Espenson speaks about the return of 'Battlestar Galactica' in 'The Plan' and 'Caprica'
Submitted by Superheidi on 07/27/2009
At the San Diego Comic Con, Battlestar Galactica and Caprica series writer Jane Espenson called her script for the Battlestar Galactica continuation film The Plan "a puzzle," because it retells much of the BSG mythology from the Cylon point of view, strictly adhering to the canonical timeline while still telling an entertaining, darkly humorous tale. In a nutshell, said Espenson, we fans can expect The Plan to be about "what happened on the other side of that door after Starbuck walks through." The Plan director Edward James Olmos, meanwhile, said simply, "You will freak out."...
Lucy Lawless Returns to TV in 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand': Watch the trailer
Submitted by Superheidi on 07/26/2009
Lucy Lawless (Xena, Battlestar Galactica) returns to TV with a new series from Sam Raimi called Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Debuting January 2010, the historical fantasy series stars Lucy Lawless in the pivotal role of 'Lucretia'. In a passionate and ambitious partnership with her husband Batiatus (John Hannah), she supports his every move as he maneuvers their way back from near financial ruin. Lawless parallels their relationship with Shakespeare’s Macbeth, “They’re a team; they have a great relationship. He’s the brains and she shores up his confidence; she supports her man."
We've got the trailer, and its pretty awesome. Dark, intense, gory, sexy, and hardcore violent, the series was inspired by the actual slave of the Roman Republic who in 73 BC led a slave revolt that grew to more than 120,000 fighters...
