"'There's a monster in your chest. These guys hijacked your ship, and they sold your cryotube to this... human, and he put an alien inside of you. It's a really nasty one. And in a few hours, it's gonna burst its way through your rib cage, and you're gonna die. Any questions?'- Ellen Ripley, Alien Resurrection"
Bobbie Weiner A.K.A Bloody Mary
Bobbie Weiner (A.K.A. Bloody Mary) is a pioneer in the film industry. Not only does she compete in a male-dominated insustry (Movie makeup and special effects) she is also one of the most highly respected artists in film. She most notably worked on Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings and Voodoo. Famous for her Burn effects, I had to know more about Bobbie's techniques...

H: What is the best way to create a burn effect with makeup?
B: The one thing I found to work the best is to use Bloody Mary Blood and my Charcoal setting Powder. I made this powder especially for this effect 3 years ago and now it is one of the Hottest Items for us here at Bloody Mary. This will be on my Volume 2 Video this winter 2005.
Bobbie's role as a makeup artist is an unusal one. There are not many women involved in the horror makeup world (though you'd think makeup would be more of a "girl" thing).
H: How do you feel about being a woman in an industry largely dominated by men? People like Tom Savini, Rick Baker, and Greg Nicotero seem to be handed a lot of fame with their positions as makeup artists. Do you think it's different for a woman?
B: It always is for us, no matter what, for some reason people feel Men Do It Better, that is men think that, I have really broken down the barrier and proved my techniques really work. " The Make Up To Die For" Workshops and the fact that my products sell in the top stores in the malls, not grocery stores or super markets proves that I am doing something right and therefore makes some men a little uncomfortable, like I say, get over it! I am a women, I am good and even have my own business and make my own makeup with my name on it. I am also the only women owned business who supplies the USA Government with Camouflage Makeup for our soldiers..
I want a cool nickname like Bloody Mary. No fair!
H: Where did the nickname "Bloody Mary" come from?
B: When I did Pumpkinhead 2 they nicknamed me that.
Bobbie's influence extends outside of the horror world. She works for the US Government and actual funeral parlors!
H: You create makeup not only for horror films, but also for sporting events, the army, funeral homes, etc. What is special about the makeup you've developed that makes it superior?
B: I use more pigment than grease. Grease is cheap and does not last long when used in makeup. I never use animal fat or animal products therefore my
makeup last longer, never goes rancid or smells like rotten meat!AND Bobbie even makes regular makeup for freaky freaks like me!
H: Tell me about the makeup line "Goth"
B: I created this 5 years ago when people called me and asked where they
an get black this and black that and purple, dark blue and white etc. makeup. So I felt there must be something out there and there was not. So I read up on as much as I could about the Goth movement, colors etc.. and came up with the idea to do a whole line of alternative makeup, call it Goth, do Goth colors for the makeup products and here I am today with a huge following and selling great here and in the European countries
Bobbie's new venture, a comic book titled Bloody Mary, sets a dark and frightening backdrop for a woman lead...
B: Bloody Mary died at a very young age, but comes back to avenge her killer, She is a young lady who looks very evil, but the whole premise of the comic book is what ever looks evil is good and what ever looks good is evil!... There are clothes, bags, hats, jewelry and one of the characters already has her own line of makeup that is selling tremendously all over the world.
Bobbie should be honored for more than just her contribution to the horror world, but for her charity work as well.
B: I love to go around the country and do Bloody Mary workshops and give back to the people who have helped to make my business as successful as it is today! There is a waiting list for Halloween appearances and demos for me to do and I am very choosy which charity I do!
H: Tell me about your demos that you perform at conventions, charity events, and various other happenings...are they mainly for fun, for professionals, or for everyone?
B: They are for everyone! I check out the audience and gear it towards them and then just ask what they want to see me demo. There are some standards, I am always asked to do Frozen Dead People and another famous character I created was my Toxic Clown!! They love it!
Haunt Industry Cruise= Beaches and Bats! It sounds fun. What is it?
H: The Haunt Industry Cruise has been going strong for 2 years now, and you are planning a third one. Is it just a big party?
B: It is the best time of your life! A lot of fun for all who make Halloween for everyone else in the country, now it is our turn. I have the cream of the crock come every year and we have a ball! There are Bloody Mary cocktail parties every night, there is a Masquerade and Make up Ball, (the competition is stiff) I do one workshop for all on our cruise and a private one for 6-10 people who sign up for it. We always have a guest and honor someone who has made a difference in the Haunted world. There is no self promotion, nothing to sell, just come and have a good old time with other Halloweeners!!
