Geocities Horror Sites of Yore
I was actually curious about the oldest website on the internet, and in my research reminded myself why I love/hate circa 1998 -2002 Geocities and Angelfire websites! You know, the ones with the awful midi files and animated gifs!!!!
These made me smile with their lameness!!!!

ahhh.. we've come a long way, baby.....
OMG Tristan! Can we make a company that creates retro sites? I have a shitload of animated gifs I'm not using!! can I be in charge of animated cursors?
I can make us a website for free on Geocities and I'll have it ready in about ten minutes.
I'll add in some cool midi files and falling snow javascript!

Those are awesome.
Okay, one thing that made me chuckle; the guest book for Curly's page.

Yes, the site is old, yes, it's been around likely since Jesus walked with the dinosaurs; but the guest book really does make it appear as if it's actually frequented with some regularity. Only about 30% (statistic randomly invented) appear to be from spam-bots. Maybe there's actually a marketable internet niche for creating retro web pages for retro websurfers?
The very first comment cracked me up.
before i was a christian i loved this holloween stuff. this page is great! you did an awsome job on it. i see your white witch symbol there and that scared me. thanks for the tour. happy holloween.
