Salutations!
Just joined. Not sure what to do now. I've been reading around, lurking, think of replying to interesting topics.
Figured I'd give it a go and make some people aware of my existance first! Haha.
So anyway. I'm Gabi, and I live in a microscopic town in a well known county in the state of kentucky. A lot of people hate it, but I think I'll stick around.
I like listening a thousand times more than talking, but I'm always willing to put effort forth for a good conversation.
I'm part of a really small production company called Shadam Films. It consist of my boyfriend, a few friends, and myself. We're actually pretty decent at what we do. We're working on replacing our MIA camera, and getting some new editing software.
And advice would be great.
Thanks a ton!

Hey Gabi!
Here's my advice for you.
When roasting a turkey it's always good to brush it lightly with a bit of melted butter before you put it in the oven, and then broil it for the first ten minutes or so before turning it down to a proper cooking temperature. This well help ensure that the turkey skin is nice and crispy on the outside when it's down and help lock in a lot of the juices that will be trapped inside. Be careful not to burn it though!
Probably not the advice you were looking for but I'm not really filled with film company related advice like Heidi.
So far Shadam has mainly done comedy work and short films but my boyfriend and his friend have been working on coming up with ideas for a full length horror movie for a while. Shawn has tossed around a few ideas for a scifi film... But until we have a few more people willing to spend a few weekends working with us, we deff. won't be able to produce the kind of film we're aiming for. As of right now, we don't hire anyone. It's all for the love of filming.
My boyfriend is going to try and intern at a special effects/props place in Louisiana soon, and I have a little background with special effects makeup/masks.
We're learning as we go, but we're insanely passionate about it.
By the way, I'm loving this website. I can't wait to settle in.
Hi Gabi! What's the budget for your replacement camera? The Canon HV30 goes for $800 and shoots true 24p though it's a consumer camera and has very few manual controls. Andrew uses the earlier version of this model (the HV20) with a Rode Videomic and a Canon HD wide angle adapter and gets very good results.

Hi Gabi! Nice to have you. We welcome lurkers and posters here, and love to hear about women getting behind the camera and doing stuff.
What kinds of projects do you and your BF shoot with your company? shorts, or do you hire out for jobs, or are you making features?
