the first look at the new "Herbert West: Re-Animator" TV series!
What BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER was for Gothic storytelling, HERBERT WEST: RE-ANIMATOR will be for sci-fi and horror.
Apparently, the series takes place when Dr. Hebert West is still a teenager and going to a public High School populated by angsty Banana Republic models. Here's a short scene from the pilot episode:
Dr. Herbert West: Bye Mom! I'm off to reanimate the dead in my secret basement laboratory that I built without you or Dad knowing about!
Dr. Herbert West's Mother: Not so fast, young man! You have to finish eating your peas and take out the trash first!
Dr. Herbert West's Father: I can't believe another body was stolen from the local morgue! What do the authorities do with all that morgue tax money we give them! I'm just going to have to vote for that evil Republican in the next election so he can impose his iron will on the dead and eliminate that morgue tax once and for all!
Dr. Herbert West's Mother: Now dear, I'm sure there's a perfectly logical explaination why all these bodies keep disappearing from the morgue. You can't threaten to vote for evil Republicans every time a dead body mysteriously disappears from a locked coroner's office.
Dr. Herbert West: Excuse me, I just remembered I have to meet my female romantic interest and my friends from the Re-Animation Club outside the coroner's office tonight at midnight for, er, a study date. There's a big test tomorrow in our embalming class, and we need to finish our term paper on the Egyptian mumification process, or we're toast.
*hilarious hijinks ensue*

and, also, how GAY is this going to be? (gay as in 'LAME and REPULSIVE') not homosexual, because I don't think it will be homosexual at all, unfortunately.
