power out again!!!

I woke up at 6:10 am when the fan in my room made a weird noise and stopped running. I got up, found out most of the power in the apartment was out again, and ran an extension cord from the closest working outlet to my bedroom and went back to sleep. My father then proceeded to wake me up 3 times over the next 90 minutes, first to run an extension cord to the refrigerator so the food wouldn't spoil, the second time to tell me to run extension cords to his TV in his bedroom so he could watch golf on TV in his bedroom (which left me without a fan in my bedroom since the refrigerator took up all the other extension cords in the apartment), and then a third time to tell me that he called building maintenance and they told him that the entire apartment building was effected. Thanks Dad.
Anyway, we only had working outlets on the one wall in the dining room and one wall in the living room until 4:30, when we lost those until 6 pm while they worked on repairing the electrical problem in the building.
Then at 6 pm, everything came back on. Yea!

I didn't know this part of the forum existed!!!
JEssica, my plumbing--every pipe in the damn apartment--backed up last weekend. The sinks and bathtubs filled up with disposal-digested food and gook and it SMELLED horrible, and then the bathtubs started barfing up stinky gross water. Then the toilets decided to stop flushing.
Glad your stuff is working again!!

That happened to me in my old place! My landlord's answer was that i should 'pour some vinegar down the sink', you know, cause that would fix it.

Yeah. I was advised to do the same, with some baking soda as well. I was like...how about some red food dye too, since you apparently want me to make a volcano out of my drains?
She finally figured out I wasn't saying the drains weren't draining, but that they were backed up and OVERFLOWING and the hot mexican pool-boy-esque maintainence guy came running over. By that time I was wondering if Scott's artic slime was coming after me, since it was apparently coming out of my drains.
My drains can back up anytime....LOL
