"'Just so you know, the words 'just' and 'cramps', they don't go together.'- Ginger, Ginger Snaps"
Mr. June: Brian Pulido
Brian Pulido is the adorable and clever creator of the fantasy/horror comic series Lady Death comic series, which features one of the strongest female lead characters in comic book history. He's also the writer of horror comic versions of Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Jason X, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
As a director he's completed his first short horror film and is hard at work on pre-production for a feature. He's produced and written another horror short called There's Something Out There. He's also one of the sweetest and most fun men in horror right now. As the festival programmer for the International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Competition in Scottsdale, Arizona and a frequent guest of horror and comic conventions, Pulido is certainly popular and extremely in-touch with his fans. He's also pretty damn cute.
What's it like to be a part of the Pulido Crime Syndicate, and was breaking away difficult?
I'm still in. Once yer in, yer in.

Brian's future is so fucking bright... he's gotta wear shades.
What's it like going out on a date with Brian Pulido?
It starts with grave robbing, then descends from there.

'I made this!!!'
I created a character named Evil Ernie and he needed motivation to kill. I created Lady Death to inspire him. Behind every great man is a great woman.
What are your turn-ons?
Night, high-speed car chases and the living dead.
Turn-offs?
Rainbows and unicorns.

"Don't make me mad," says Brian. "You wouldn't like me when I'm mad."
Tell us about the International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Fest. How is it different than other fests?
We show 60 films in competition (shorts and features). Each film is shown twice. Each visiting filmmaker is assigned a personal assistant. We treat the filmmakers like gold, because they are the heart and soul of our operation. Visit www.HorrorSciFi.com for more info. I've been to a few of the "biggest"genre fests. I've had a film shown at them and found their "customer service" appalling.

Brian's old-fashioned chicken gravy won 3rd place 4th year running at the Idaho State Fair International Chicken Gravy Cookoff in Fastfalls, Idaho, last September. Brian thinks placing third tastes great!
If you could only bring 3 things to a desert island, what would they be, and why?
My wife, a case of Corona and a long-range communication device so they could pick us up after we partied ourselves out.

!El Brian Pulido es muy telemundo!
What upcoming projects do you have that you can share with us?
We are officially in pre-production for a horror feature that I co-wrote and will direct! More on that to come. Recently, I've done music videos for The Love Me Nots, Calabrese, Hemlock and Sixstitch. In comics, I'm writing a Chucky (from Child's Play) comic for Devil's Due, Darkness for Top Cow Productions and Lady Death for Avatar press. Visit www.LadyDeathUniverse.com for more info.
I've written two Lara Croft: Tomb Raider animated shorts for Turner Broadcasting / Gametap. Plus there's other cool stuff I can't yet talk about.

Brian kicks ass with a hot vampire chick. See! All vampire chicks ARE hot and slutty.
Why when people ask you "what three things would you bring with you on a desert island?" no one ever replies, "A BOAT" ?????
Good point!
What is the "Bad Girl" craze in comics, and why did you start it?
In the early 90's a bunch of comics came out with tough, independent female characters: Lady Death, Vampirella and Shi. They started the craze together. I wrote Lady Death mainly because I was raised mostly by my mother and sister and could easily see women in a commanding role.

This is a picture of a young and unassuming Brian Pulido. The picture seems to scream "Take me to Prom and I promise I won't puke in the parking lot all night while you sit inside by yourself!"
What's the sexiest thing a woman has ever said to you (that doesn't involve profanity)?
My wife said, "I do"fifteen years ago, and that has kept me going ever since.
