Mr. February: Sam Witwer

Sam Witwer is so cute it hurts. This amazing actor has turned our heads as Crashdown in the Sci-Fi Channel series Battlestar Galactica and wowed us with appearances on the TV series Bones and Dexter as well as Enterprise, Dark Angel, and Angel. He can be seen in the horror film The Mist and in the upcoming Pathology. He's So Cute. But he's also a musician, girls! This Juliard-educated guy has his own band called The Crashtones with a new album called "Colorful of the Stereo". What kind of music is it? I don't really know! But he looks good making it! It's not enough that he's good-looking AND talented. Nope. He's totally uber-cool as well. Like, So cool it burns...

What's it like to go on a date with you?

I dunno.  Are we talkin first date?
First date is generally low key.  Coffee shop type stuff.  Why?  Well, what better way to know how interesting you think someone is than to eliminate exciting first date tactics and ploys.
Past that,  let's go to London.

Cuz god knows,  when you live with me,  I play video games.  I have to offset that disadvantage.

It's a survival thing.

He got it at Ross.

You've been on some pretty female-heavy genre projects like Battlestar Galactica, Dexter, and Bones. How cool do you feel knowing that?

OMG. SO cool.  I'm gonna go out and buy a leather jacket and a motorcycle immediately.

WWOWD? (What Would Oscar Wilde Do?)

Who gets the most chicks in a band: The bassist or the drummer? Why?

Bassist has magic fingers.

I caught him RED Handed! (Been wanting to use that one for a while!)

What's the REAL reason you started a band (be honest)?

Ya know... Actors are blessed and cursed with downtime. If you're an actor and that's your major creative outlet,  you cannot express yourself without someone Else's permission.  Someone has to HIRE you first.  When you're waiting around for that call,  that can be frustrating or worse.

For me,  I was a musician before I ever seriously considered being an actor.  Perhaps the most wonderful thing about that is that I have a creative outlet that no one can stop me from exploring.  During the downtime,  I can be as creatively fulfilled as when I'm shooting any given project.

As far as the Crashtones are concerned,  the truth is I love music,  I love telling stories through music, and I love playing my music with my dear friends.

Sam in a Japanese TV ad for 'Dandy House' Clothing, Inc.

How pretentious IS Juliard?

       a) Very Pretentious
       b) Somewhat Pretentious
       c) How dare you! I'm a Juliard man!

a b AND c exist.  All depends on the individual...  but for anyone that's gone through an arts program,  isn't it fun to hear the discussions during lunch...? ya know?  The ones about how Pacino's just a bag of tricks or DeNiro doesn't fully "transform."

I can proudly say that I have, in fact, told some people to shut the f*** up and be thankful that they're lucky enough to be where they are.

Sam, that one time he crash-landed on Kobol, the planet of the Gods.

How do you feel about the "Is he Gay?" discussion on your IMDB page message board? er, you have seen that, I suppose?

There's a gay discussion?  I'm gonna have to check that out... weigh in.  Thing is,  am I gonna lose some gay fans when I say I'm not?

Truth is,  I'm an actor.  I'm here to entertain people.  If any particular audience member finds it more entertaining or interesting to think of me in some particular way,  I say go for it.

However,  the sad truth for anyone male or female who wants to wine and dine me...?  My girlfriend is a major bad ass and you're gonna have to take it up with her.

Moments later, Dr. Gaius Baltar and Sam pose for another picture next to their destroyed ship. Oooops! Smooth Move, Ex Lax!

Should I call you "Sam" or "Stewart"? What are your turn-ons?

Well, Heidi... Back then, they call me K Fed.  But you can call me Daddy instead.

Turn ons?   Oh, those are easy.  Naked Women. Sex. ...Yeah,  sex is a major turn on.

Confidence and a strong sense of self are a must.  All too often females try to sell themselves through the advertisement of their sexuality.  That's cool and all,  but... can you hang?!  Are you "down wit it?"  !

OK.. And prepare for lameness.  If she's a great person then she's serious money ahead with me.  Someone who has enough confidence and bravery to have a strong moral code is gonna get my attention.  Oh,  and a nice ass.

Singin'.

Turn-offs?

Take the opposite of turn ons... and don't get me started.

Sam takes a moment to wonder whether this interview was really worth it...

What awesome and cool upcoming projects can you tell us about?

Speaking of video games...There's a video game coming out for almost all gaming platforms called "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed."  In it I play the secret apprentice of this guy named Darth Vader.  I'm a huge geek so you'd better believe I'm excited.

Check out  www.theforceunleashed.comfor some cool videos of me talkin Star Wars jargon. Also workin on a new Crashtones album

Wearing cool klocks is just part of what being pimped out and urban is all about!

Um, can you tell us who THE CYLON is?

Oh eff, man. Let's put it in the mystery section, k?  Now can everyone be friends?
