Mr. August: Michael Pare

Michael Pare is not only a god, he’s a GOD. This excessively handsome man starred in the 1980’s genre faves The Philadelphia Experiment, Streets of Fire, and biopic Eddie and the Cruisers. He’d go on to make literally dozens of horror and Sci-Fi movies including John Carpenter’s Village of the Damned, Komodo vs. Cobra, and Bloodrayne. Earlier this year, we saw him in the horror film Furnace and Uwe Boll’s wacky masterpiece Postal. He’s still got 8 action, horror, or thriller films coming out this year or next like Room and Board (directed by Julia Davis), the ghost story 100 ft, and Alone in the Dark II, and the list keeps growing. Michael is tall, handsome, and boyishly irresistible to any red-blooded woman. He’s one magnificent Scary Stud. Enjoy Mr. August! ...

Can you describe the science behind 'The Philadelphia Experiment' in no more than 5 sentences? (You must use the words "electromagnetic", "vortex" and "hyperspace")

The science behind the Philadelphia experiment involved putting enormous electrical generators on the USS Eldridge to generate a powerful electromagnetic field. Magnetism is the same power as gravity which is a primal force in the universe. The goal was to create a magnetic shield around the ship so radar waves would not bounce off but be absorbed. The problem was this primal force opened a vortex into hyperspace and some people and parts of the ship were drawn into another dimension, beyond physical reality as we understand it.

Looking devilishly sexy in the TV Series 'Stahunter"

You've worked with Uwe Boll on Far Cry, Tunnel Rats, Bloodrayne, Alone in the Dark II, Postal, and Bloodrayne II... What do you think about all the flack he's taken as a filmmaker from horror fans?

I think Uwe is enjoying all the publicity he is getting, any publicity is better than no publicity.

As Pat Garrett in Uwe Boll's "Bloodrayne 2"

Can you tell me the most romantic thing your wife has ever done for you? What's the most romantic thing you've ever done for HER?

Our whole marriage has been one wonderful romantic moment after another.

With director Uwe Boll on the set of something.

Lately, you've been getting cast as a cop quite a bit... in Point of Impact, Lunarcop, 2103, Blackwoods, Furnace, Fate, Seed, Bloodrayne II, the Perfect Sleep, Tunnel Rats, and Dark World… Which do you like better, playing a cop or a Captain of some kind of vessel? (Like in Crash Landing, Space Fury, StarHunter, Into the Sun, and Moon 44). Is it because you look nice in uniform?

I've thought about that a lot and I can only guess:

A) I was named after Michael the arch-angel - that is, God's enforcer
B) I am a Libra, which has the symbol of the scales also the symbol of justice
C) I am a dog in Asian astrology which is also a champion of good

Michael as 'Cody' in 'Road To Hell'

You recently made '100 FT'. with Eric Red and Famke Janssen. You get to play a GHOST! Can you tell me what it was like to work with Eric and Famke, and how it is playing the "bad guy" which you don't get to do quite as often as we'd like? Will you be a see-through ghost?

This is the second time working with Eric. We did Bad Moon also. Eric is a great director to work for because he writes directs produces edits and is in complete control of every aspect of the making of the film. He will listen to any ideas I have and make a relatively quick and decision about it.

I am not sure of the quality of the effect they used on the ghost because they did so much after principle photography. Playing "the bad guy" is always interesting because you spend a lot of time finding the root of their anger and fears.

Famke was a total professional to work with and pleasant to work with. I enjoyed all the time I spent with her.

On the set of 'Polycarp'

We love when women direct horror films. Can you talk about what you play in the upcoming horror movie 'Room and Board'?

In Room and Board I play a bank robber who is hiding out in the rooming house.

What the heck is this? I don't know, but I love it.

In your opinion, what qualities make a woman 'sexy’?

A woman who feels comfortable in the world as a woman. Women that focus on their assets and accept their weaknesses.

Shooting in Iraq with (I swear!!!) Anthony Michael Hall. What movie was this????!!

You're in the horror film 'Polycarp'. Now, this is a film about 'more than one carp', right?

I'm not sure what Polycarp ended up being about. It started about a serial killer.

Looking devilishly sexy in the TV Series 'Stahunter" once more

I am sure you are aware that there are many women out there who are totally in love with you. What can you say to console these lovelorn women who adore you but who must live with the fact that they may never meet you, and if they do, that you are married?

Love my characters and my work because they are far more interesting and accessible than I am.

As an evil evil man in Eric Red's '100 FT'

What do you miss about living in Brooklyn, if anything?

I sometimes miss NYC because I grew up there and my youth and adolescence were pretty low-pressure and secure, unlike adulthood and managing a career. Youth is wasted on the young.
