"'What's the point? They're all the same, some stupid killer stalking some big-breasted girl who can't act and is always running up the stairs when she should be running out the front door, it's insulting.'- Sidney Prescott, Scream"

This movie looks AMAZING, I saw this on the scream awards has anyone seen it? I read the synopsis of the book on Wikipedia makes me want to read it and the movie looks great.
I can't wait to get money to buy it when it comes out if its already out.
To answer your questions, Moonbutterfly7, allow me to paraphrase Jon Stewart:
We're the people who invented baconaisse (bacon flavored mayo) because we're too lazy to make bacon.
Or, let me paraphrase someone I know:
Why would I want to go to a movie and read? I could just stay home with a book if I wanted to read.
Great movie. Caught it in a short run at one of the locally owned theaters out here and was simply amazed.
Now, I'm just waiting to come across one of the "theatrical subtitled" editions. I read on a couple of other sites that the company that released the DVD dumbed down the subtitles in order to appeal to the masses, or some such shit.
Bigmac, I tottttally love that quote from John Stewart. And frankly, it does take too long to make bacon.
I do think it is a little, um (as the bourgoisie would say, 'Gauche') bad form to remake a film for the US before that film gets released in the US, when it is definitely being released in the US.
Another one like this was Quarantine, the remake of REC, which didn't get a chance to hit US DVD before the American studios started remaking it.

I agree with you on that. But most of the American movie goers won't even watch dubbed, let alone subtitled foreign films anymore.
But I think it's thanks to the corporations out there dumbing down the American palate. Everything in our lives is being reduced to the lowest common denominator in order to provide an homologous experience.
Look at our popular restaurants. If you eat at Applebee's at any location throughout the world, all the food will taste the same. No offering of local color or flavor, no surprises. Just the same bland cheeseburger.
The same experience awaits us at the multiplex. Let's face it, it's easier to make money on a product if it feels familiar to an population cowed into being afraid of anything outside the comfort zone.
Well, if you insist.
Despite all possible predictions, Let the Right One In was number two at the box office. The top grossing movie of the year was The Hurt Locker, solidifying Kathryn Bigelow's chances at sweeping the Oscars.
Transformers 2 died a swift and horrible death, after protests from all corners of society for the stark racist portrayal of two of the robot characters.
And, finally, the Avatar audience saw the movie, was amazed by the visual effects, but all sent letters to James Cameron saying he'd better come up with a decent story next time.
Wow, I actually feel better about life now.

Nice job! It would be funny to fill this out further and write an Onion-ish article on the fates of many top films if the country actually had taste.
The slobbering gushiness over Avatar is the most grating to me of all.
Yeah Bigmac, that was pretty funny. I never watched Transformers 2 - I'm too poor to be blowing three bucks at the movie store on some piece of shit that I know for sure is going to suck. Which characters were racist? Just when you think they can't sink any lower, right?
Tristan, it's amusing because you get so upset over Avatar fandom. I've never seen the movie myself (and honestly I have no plans to - it looks like a piece of shit), but I think I've gotten more entertainment value off of you wanting to give the Avatarians a stern talking-to.
This is what I have to say to the Avatarians: If you want to relive the movie, paint yourself blue and go hug a tree or somethin - not that hard. If you think the blue creatures were nice to each other, why not go outside and try being nice to other people? Jumping into the movie and living there forever is spooky, so stop dwelling on it. (As if any of them care what I have to say).
Hey one thousand wolves. I haven't seen Transformers 2 either. You'd have to put a gun to my head for me to drop a dime for that movie. However, according to some of the reviews I read, a couple of the new Autobots (Mudflap and Skids) were considered crude stereotypes. These Autobots had gold cap teeth, talked and acted like gangstas and admitted to being illiterate. This prompted an outcry by several critics for a degrading portrayal of African Americans by a couple of robotic cars.
Appears not to have harmed the box office returns, though.
Oh god was he ever. UGH. And the whole "whatchoo sayin' pussy!?! You dummass bitch ain't know nothin'"s of those horrible, horrible, robots made me want to die after a while. I'd rather bite off my own foot than watch that film ever again. But back to "Let the Right One in". That is probably one of my favourite films of all time, and one of my favourite novels of all time as well. I don't know if I can stand this American remake.
How badly do you think it'll turn out?
I've got a REALLY bad feeling about it.

I've seen it.

Both the film and the book are both wonderful. Netflix actually has the film on "instant streaming" right now.
Another note - it's also being remade in the US as "Let Me In". I'm not sure I'm happy with the idea.
