Kate Glover's 'Slaughtered' at Grimmfest

Kate Glover’s gory slasher movie debut Slaughtered is to receive its UK premiere at the Odeon cinema in Manchester on Halloween weekend (Grimm Fest), ahead of its market debut at the 2009 AFM.

Slaughtered – previously titled Schooner of Blood – was written, produced and directed by Kate in her native Australia when she was just 22 years old. Kate was inspired to make the movie by a creepy razor saw hanging in the cellar of the remote pub where she working while at University, so she held some fundraisers with the local drinkers and drew together a willing crew almost all under 25 years old...

The film is set on a terrifying night in the outback pub. A new buy joins the young bartending staff, and passions start to rise, and soon the body count does too as a masked waits in the cellar. The killer’s identity becomes clearer as one-by-one the suspects meet their gruesome ends, leaving 20-year-old bar-girl Jamie (Chloe Boreham) struggling to make it out alive.

Kate shot the film in the area where real-life serial killer Ivan Milat hid the bodies of his British backpacker victims. She worked shifts in the pub by day, while shooting the movie there by night, and raised some funds for the film by selling bottles of blood red beer to the locals.

Kate has since relocated to the UK, where her production company Red Sparrow is preparing a number of horror movies, including The Bone Orchard, to be directed by the legendary John Landis.
