Guinevere Turner in new queer horror film 'The Owls'

WHO has been in the herb garden, dammit?Guinivere Turner (American Psycho, Bloodrayne) stars as 'Iris' in a new female-directed queer horror/thriller called The Owls, in which four lesbians accidentally kill a younger woman and try to get away with it.

The Owls (currently shooting) seems to have a surrealistic and experimental quality to it. It will "(if sometimes gruesomely) mix the stories of its thriller characters with those of its behind-the-scene makers to create an end product that complicates easy images of contemporary lesbian identity, cross-generational interaction, and queer media." Sounds complicated...

The filmmakers go on to say that the film "will represent lesbian life post baby-dykedom and with no sugar-coating. The protagonists are four women in long-term relationships trying to make sense of the weight of alcoholism, infidelity, infertility, aging, and murder."

The Owls is being made by a small group of film makers from the glory days of new queer cinema, that have formed a film collective, by the name of Parliament Film Collective. The Parliament Film Collective re-explores the possibility for enjoying the collective/lesbian creative processes and queer community, and making art together outside the mainstream.
