documentary problems
I thought I was all finished with 'This is Drop Dead', the documentary on the 2006 Drop Dead Music Festival in NYC. We sent it off to the duplicators to make DVD copies, and were planning on self-distributing it.
However, I found out last night that there was a problem with the test copy and the duplicator didn't bother to tell us. (Arrggghhhh!!!!!) So we've lost about a month in getting it out. Anyway, the duplicator is going to send me their test DVD so I can look at it and try to figure out what's causing the problem(s).
This also screws me up for doing other projects since I can't really start them without having this one finished.

Was it a problem in the film itself, or the duplication disc?
I don't know. They just said there was a problem with the test copy, so I have to wait to get the replicated DVD so I can try to figure out what it is.
I suspect it has something to do with it being a dual layered DVD, as that gave my meager computer system nothing but problems. If that's what it is, then screw the extra features and bonus footage, I'm dropping all that and just doing a single layer DVD which I never seem to have any problems with.
Jessica
I've been there on the dual layer DVDs. Some machines will just not be able to deal with them. Don't despair, this too will pass.
I sure hope so. My business partner is being extremely vague about the problems so I wonder if there might be a financial component to the duplication problems.

Feel your pain, filmgal. I'm mired in production snafus all the time.
What was the problem, again? It seems you've omitted a word.
