"'Blondes make the best victims. They’re like virgin snow that shows up the bloody footprints.' - Alfred Hitchcock"
Diablo Cody to write/produce 'Sweet Valley High' Adaptation
So, Diablo Cody, queen of all that is trite, is going to be adapting the shallow and frivolous Sweet Valley High teen novels of the early 1980's to a film! Its the perfect mix! Cody's inability to create characters with real human emotion and the pandering and perfect worlds of gorgeous blond twins Elizabeth and Jessica = match made in heaven!
The original series of novels, written by Francine Pascal, follows Elizabeth (the smart one) and Jessica (the fun one) Wakefield through Sweet Valley High School - a place where there are only rich, happy white people. As the series progressed, it went the way of 90210 and Melrose Place and teen high school troubles morphed from 'what to wear to Prom?' to 'kidnapped by a cult', 'stalked by a killer', and 'my best friend has gone insane and died from snorting coke.'
Truly, my faith in Cody has been renewed.

Ha. Nice one. Poor Cody can't
Ha. Nice one. Poor Cody can't get a break around here. Maybe this one will inspire another one of her publicists to join your site and leave an eloquent and perfectly worded retort. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I think it's kind of cool, or at least mildly interesting. Or maybe that never happened at all and I'm just imagining things. Wouldn't be the first time.
Anyways, this show looks like everything else Cody has done. I'll probably give it a whirl for the dialogue alone. The only thing remotely cool about it so far is that the poster slightly resembles the photograph of Laura Palmer at the end of each episode of Twin Peaks. Like a well adjusted, Stepford-wifey, clean nosed Laura Palmer.
