Camera problems
I just got back from dropping my Sony HDV camera off for repairs.
The touch screen on the camera stopped working. After checking on the internet, I found out that the most likely cause of the touch screen not working is either a disconnected or broken flex cable (hich is a "known issue" with this camera).
I spend most of yesterday looking up video camera repair places and getting estimates. (inc. the Sony Service Center's outrageous $735 estimate). Luckily, I found a small camera repair shop in Glendale that gave me an estimate for $160 and I could just take the camera in instead of shipping it to a repair facility.
But now I'm scared to death that I'll get a call from them telling me the problem is worse than they originally thought and it's going to cost a lot more to repair.

The camera is 3 yrs. old, and used ones go for about $1800 on eBay.
It's a great little camera for a lot of different kinds of projects: microbudget features, documentaries, live performances & music videos, web series, etc.
BTW, I had a job today and earned $150 for 3 hrs. on camera work. (I played a boom operator.) That should pay for most of the camera repairs. (Unless they find something else wrong with it.)
