Lucy Lawless in 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand' - A '300' for TV?
By Superheidi on August 3rd, 2009I’ve never been scolded by a famous TV actress before, let alone one with twinkling blue eyes, a devilish grin, and a reputation for on-screen butt kicking as Xena, Warrior Princess. When Lucy Lawless, one of the stars of the upcoming TV series Spartacus: Blood and Sand, teasingly gave me a hard time for not speaking up much during the press conference for her show at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con, it did make me ask more questions. I guess it’s that commanding personality that serves her well in her role as a powerful, manipulative Roman wife on the show...
Lucy Lawless Returns to TV in 'Spartacus: Blood and Sand': Watch the trailer
By Superheidi on July 26th, 2009
Lucy Lawless (Xena, Battlestar Galactica) returns to TV with a new series from Sam Raimi called Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Debuting January 2010, the historical fantasy series stars Lucy Lawless in the pivotal role of 'Lucretia'. In a passionate and ambitious partnership with her husband Batiatus (John Hannah), she supports his every move as he maneuvers their way back from near financial ruin. Lawless parallels their relationship with Shakespeare’s Macbeth, “They’re a team; they have a great relationship. He’s the brains and she shores up his confidence; she supports her man."
We've got the trailer, and its pretty awesome. Dark, intense, gory, sexy, and hardcore violent, the series was inspired by the actual slave of the Roman Republic who in 73 BC led a slave revolt that grew to more than 120,000 fighters...
Alison Lohman ('Drag Me to Hell') - not a horror fan (and not that bright)
By Superheidi on May 25th, 2009
Its soooo depressing when you see a great movie with a seemingly smart lead actress who is funny and great in the film, and she turns out to be basically mentally retarded when you see her interviewed or get to interview her (Jessica Alba, cough cough).
In this video (courtesy of Universal) of an interview with Alison Lohman, star of Drag Me To Hell, Alison talks about Sam's 'directing style' and she basically knows nothing about him or anything he's ever done, and admits her 'comedy' was unintentional. Sigh. OH! She also just sounds really really stupid. Can her agent/manager, whoever you are, please get her 'interview lessons'? Do they have those? Watch the video below...
Drag Me to Hell (2009)

Sam Raimi has long held a special place in the hearts of horror fans. While Evil Dead held a definite entertainment value, its sequel, Evil Dead 2, struck a chord of hilarity that shivered the lifeblood of the entire genre. Sam Raimi's take on horror back in the late 80's was whacky, gory, absurd, and fun. Raimi since became the lost prodigal son to horror, however, as he understandably took a divergent path into the profitable Spiderman series. Now, with his pockets much fuller, he's returned to the sort of film he started with in Drag Me to Hell to show us that his creative talents within the genre are still bright, shiny, and full of smoking brimstone.
