"In a time of pure evil...the 1980's."

A group of teenagers spend the night in Murder McGee's house to hold a sÃ©ance and try to bring his spirit back from the dead (but of course!). It turns into a night of terror and hilarity that is like a slasher who-dunnit meets the breakfast club.

And can we say, "whoa, flash-back!"

In the same spirit as Shaun of the Dead, Scary Movie, and Bubba Hotep, Stupid Teenagers Must Die is a funny and ridiculous spoof. It nods toward movies of the decade, as well as to the "formula" (you know the one). I watched this movie alone, which is a shame really because this is definitely a movie to watch with someone. It delivers classic characters with classic lines and I am glad that I have been able to watch this, truly.

I laughed out loud at the antics of Thing one and Thing two, aka Geek one (Cory Assink...hot!), and Geek two (Jonathan Brett). Being an old D&D freak myself as well as a major partcipant in Vampire; I too, had been busy in my friends' rooms or basements acting out my part as "Vala, the chosen one". (I know, it sounds so kinky doesn't it?) Oh, and singing to myself in the mirror convinced that I was the next Madonna.

Speaking of which, if you really dig Madonna, especially the frizzy-haired fishnet wearing Madonna-style of the eighties, then you will love the lesbians (Jamie Carson and Christina DeRosa). Did you just read that? Yes you did. And yes, everyone is supposed to be in high school. Keep that in mind. I also laughed at the eighties-goth Madeline, portrayed by Renee Dorian also known as "Death Master". She is just so serious, it's funny. She is the one who had spear-headed this entire shindig, and she gets a little pissy when her plans for a super-spooky night are in any way interrupted. Which they do get interrupted. (See: Thing one and Thing two, above.)

I reminisced and took pleasure in a fun "I spy with my little eye" game that nodded toward Halloween, Captain Howdy, Night of the Living Dead, and many other classics that I have come to know and love (or love to hate), as well as to every other slasher-involving-teens movie out there.

Renee Dorian is..."The Death-Master!"

Yes, the effects, black eyes, and certain elements were a bit hokey, but if that is all you find to laugh at then you must not have a sense of humor. There were moments that were over the top and at times I had a tendency to feel as if I were watching a high school play, still, everyone was surprisingly good in their portrayals. The music was par for the theme, the costuming was good and I am surprised that I enjoyed it. Not that I expected the worst, mind you, but you can only tell a story involving teenagers trapped in a haunted house so many times before it loses its magic.

I have to admit, I did jump a couple of times. A fun, "Boo! Gotcha, haha!" kind of jump. I enjoyed those. "Stupid Teenagers Must Die!"... the title pretty much says it all.
