| 'Charmed' Entire Series out on DVD today! |
|
Out on DVD today!!!!! Starring Alyssa Milano (as Pheobe), Holly Marie Combs (as Piper), and Shannon Doherty (as Prue), Charmed was a supernatural one-hour drama from Spelling Television that chronicled the conflicts and the love among three vastly different sisters and their need to come together to fulfill an ancient witchcraft prophecy. During the fourth of seven seasons, Rose McGowan joined the cast as long lost half-sister Paige and Shannon Doherty left the show. Though bound together by blood and destiny, these twentysomething women could not have been more dissimilar. Yet the discovery that the three sisters were powerful good witches, foretold as the Charmed Ones, created a bond that reached far beyond petty sisterly grudges, and they banded together to keep their otherworldly witchcraft a secret and vanquish all comers. Also, there was romance, drama, and lots of hot guys!
Charmed is now available in entirety on DVD with lots of special features and tons of cool stuff. The show ran from 1998 to 2006 and was created by Constance M. Burge (who wrote 152 of the episodes).

| Women we like at 'People's Choice Awards' |
|
The 'People's Choice Awards' nominations are in! While this awards show is a total crock of crap and means nothing, we were pleased to note that there were lots of female genre stars in this list of nominees. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is nominated as Fave Sci-Fi Fantasy Show, and Mariska Hargitay (CSI), Holly Hunter (Saving Grace), and Kyra Sedgewick (The Closer) were totally representing in the crime/thriller arena. Also pleasing was the Fave Female Action Star catgeory, which features Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway (I think these were the ONLY female action stars this year).
The show will air January 7, 2009 at 9PM on CBS. Read on for all the awesome female genre nominees!...

| Small Screen Scream Queens of the 1970s |
|
 By Amanda Reyes
It would be difficult to pin a label on the women mentioned in this article. All are gorgeous, strong, and smart and each imbues something unique that made them so original in the first place. But one fact ties these vixens, girls-next-door, spinsters and housewives together - All are Small Screen Scream Queens. From 1970-1979 this fine assortment of talented ladies took over the boob-tube (pun intended!) and created memories long held dear by latch key kids everywhere. Moreover, they became icons of an era sadly long since passed. The Made for TV movies of the 70s provided a unique contribution to the genre and have actually created a sub-genre all their own.
Just what makes a Small Screen Scream Queen, you ask? Since not much attention has been given to this sect of pop-culture, I though I’d explore the qualifications here...

| 'Cryptique' - Miko Macabre rocks our socks |
|
Cryptique is a witty and sarcastic review series hosted by the campy “Barely-Legal Baroness of Cult Classics,” Miko Macabre. Like our favorite horror hosts of olden times, it takes a new look at old horror films through the eyes of a true fan.
Cryptique is the branchild of Sophia Baxter, an English Literature major at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania. Baxter writes each episode and stars as the series' host, Miko Macabre. In the summer of 2007, just after Baxter uploaded the first episode, the show came to the attention of producer Jay Holben. As Baxter was struggling with production logistics in rural Pennsylvania, Holben made a deal for Adakin to take over production of the show and collaborate with her on a new incarnation of the series...

| Lifetime's fave Scream Queen List |
|
It's the time of year when everyone is doing a favorite "Scream Queen" list. Check out Lifetime TV's! A TV network run for women has much more substantial choices than your standard MAXIM Scream Queen list. Women like Ellen Burstyn of The Exorcist and Jodie Foster from Silence of the Lambs made the cut, along with Sissy Spacek, Shelley Duvall, Geena Davis, and Margot Kidder. Definitely not "typical" and definitely far more classy!
