There are two new trailers/teasers and a new poster (click image to the left to enlarge) for the vampire/romance film Twilight, out November 21, directed by Catherine Hardwicke and based on the book by Stephanie Meyer, with screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg.

Supermodel-turned-genre director Rie Rasmussen has completed her feature film debut! EuropaCorp, Luc Besson's French film company, produced the thriller Romance the Dark, their second film with Rasmussen (her first is the horror short she wrote and directed called Thinning The Herd). Maxim Media will release Melanie Ansely's thrilling ghost story Watch Me under its Midnight Releasing banner on Sept 2, 2008! The DVD will have extras like interviews, behind the scenes footage, an alternative opener, as well as a previously unreleased short Ansley directed in 2001 called Butcher.

Tess Hooper is a diligent cinema studies student,haunted by a shameful incident from her past. One by one Tess's friends end up brutally murdered after opening the "Watch Me" email, a file that spreads through online address books to seek its next victim. All murders bear the same traits: a red-headed woman in a yellow dress, an internet connection, the victims' eyes sewn shut. As Tess becomes the next target in line, she finds herself seeking answers from Taku, an underground film dealer with the unsavory nickname of "freak boy" and the moral integrity of a rattlesnake. But showing up voluntarily at Taku's lair, Tess finds herself in even more danger than when she was on her own. If the two can survive each other, they may just be able to live through this deadly email. As the clock ticks and the body count mounts, the two must untangle the puzzle to stop "Watch Me" from its poisonous rampage.

Director Christopher Nolan is already thinking about who will play Catwoman in his third Batman film. With the success of The Dark Knight, it looks like he can have anyone he wants! I know what you're thinking: Angelina Jolie (Too predictable?). Megan Fox (Too young?). Ali Larter (Not a big enough name?). Jessica Alba (Can't act for shit?). But it doesn't matter, because Nolan has already deciuded who he wants to play the feline, cat-suit wearing psycho.

Cher. This is not a joke.

 "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman," a studio executive recently said to British newspaper The Telegraph. "He wants to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years. The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."

Madonna's directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, produced by Nicola Doring, will be released on October 17th in theaters Unrated.

Filth and Wisdom is a funny, sexy and poignant tale of three roommates who must delve into mischievous and naughty behavior in pursuit of bigger and brighter futures.  Charismatic, mustachioed Ukrainian immigrant, A.K. (Eugene Hutz), finances his dreams of 'trans-continental superstardom' with his band, Gogol Bordello, by turning tricks as a role-playing cross-dresser.  As A.K. literally whips the privileged of London into shape, he also secretly pines for the object of his affection, Holly (Holly Weston), an aspiring ballerina looking for her big break while moonlighting as a stripper. Meanwhile, Juliette (Vicky McClure) steals medicine from her pharmaceutical job in hopes of fulfilling her life-long dream of helping Africa's youth.

There is no esssssscape (Ha!) for drunky, botched-surgery-lady Tara Reid when Vipers slithers to DVD September 23.

The sinister snakes reproduce at an alarming rate, eating everything in their path. Outnumbered, a group of locals are trapped in a hotel on an isolated island and haveonly one chance to stay alive: make it to the shore — and fast. The fang-filled tenth installment in the “Maneater” series stars Tara Reid, Corbin Bernsen (The Dentist!!!!) and Jessica Steen (Who?). The DVD will be available in an R-Rated cut – not seen on TV. Vipers will make its television debut on the Sci-Fi Channel September 21, 2008.

Allright, so it's not horror. But it is fantasy, and it is directed by a woman, and I adore The Little Mermaid (for crissakes, it came out when I was 11, what more do you want?). The Prequel to The Little Mermaid, Ariel's Beginning, is on DVD and it's directed by Peggy Holmes. If you ever wanted to see Ursula before she was a witch, Ariel's sisters hair in more details, and more fun stuff with mermaids, this is your chance. Indie Producer / Director Ashley Fester has decided to self-distribute her horror documentary Celluloid Horror accross Canada, starting with the Rue Morgue Festival of Fear in Toronto this August 23rd. The documentary follows Kier-La Janisse, creator of Canada's First International Horror Film Festival, CineMuerte & Bloodshots 48hr filmmaking challenge, over the course of several years as she strives to keep her festival running without detsroying her personal life. Kier-La’s tumultuous past provides her with a unique ability to recognize the significance of these narratives amidst the extremity of horror, successfully broadening the definition of the genre.
